The Hundred 2023 Betting
A brilliant tournament will inevitably lead to plenty of interest from cricket fans around the world and extending from that, The Hundred cricket betting.
If you do your research thoroughly and get to know the players and teams well, there could be an opportunity to turn over a good profit, especially as it’s a new tournament and not everyone will be up to scratch with all of its elements.
One of the great things about cricket betting on short formats like T20 and The Hundred is that your bets get settled just a few hours after you place them, rather than having to wait for ages as you do with Test matches.
Here at 10CRIC we generally divide our The Hundred betting markets into three types.
Here’s what you can look forward to.
- Pre-match The Hundred betting - This is placing bets on a particular match before it starts. Typical markets here are the winner market, top team batsman, top team bowler, the man of the match and which side will hit the most sixes. This is also where you can bet on which side will win the all-important toss.
- Live The Hundred Betting - Live the Hundred betting will no doubt prove extremely popular for Indian customers who enjoy the thrill of wagering until the last wicket is taken or the winning runs are scored. Popular live betting markets will no doubt be the winner market and the first innings runs the market, where you predict how many runs the side batting first will post.
- Outrights The Hundred Betting - The main market here will be which side goes on to win the whole thing. But other outright betting markets are: who will make the Playoffs, which side will finish bottom and which players will end as a top batsman and top bowler for the tournament. You may have to wait longer here to get paid out but the 100 outright betting markets can prove to be very profitable if you can work out what might happen in the long term.
The Hundred Odds
Our marquee market will of course be who wins the very first edition of the tournament. Eight teams will be out to get their names on the trophy, so it’s a case of studying which teams have which players and which can excel.
Given this is an even shorter format than T20 and it’s easy to see that teams with lots of six-hitters can expect to do well because high-scoring games will inevitably be the order of the day.
But of course, it’s not just about the big bats. The best bowlers, whether wily spinners or the pacemen are said to be the ones who win your games. So be on the lookout for teams with bowlers who take wickets but perhaps most crucially, have strong economic rates.
And don’t forget about the captain. He has a big say on proceedings so decide which teams have the best skippers in terms of tactical awareness as it can make a big difference.
You’ll also have The Hundred cricket odds on who will be the best batsman. This works both on a per-match-basis where it’s a case of betting on who will top score just in that one game and also on a tournament basis. In other words, betting on who will score the most runs in the whole The Hundred tournament. The same applies to top bowler betting.
Remember that here at 10CRIC you’re betting with real money to win real money so do your research before making your choices!
Other Hundred odds will be available on the man of the match, how many fours will be scored, who has the best opening partnership and dozens of other betting markets.
Winner Odds & Predictions
Although The Hundred isn’t a competition with a long history, the cricket community already has a few ideas about the team that might take the title in 2023. According to numerous cricket experts, the Trent Rockets, defending the title won last year, once again have the best odds of coming first. Their balanced squad, packed with talented batsmen and a formidable bowling attack, makes them a strong contender for another trophy.
However, other teams shouldn’t be discarded so quickly. The Northern Superchargers are currently right behind the Trent Rockets in terms of favourites, while they are in front of them on the standings list, as are the Manchester Originals. Also, it’s not too late for any of the underdogs to throw us all a big surprise and come out on top.
Still, the tournament has just begun, so you can expect the odds to change rather frequently depending on how each match ends. For the best betting slip, make sure to check 10CRIC odds for The Hundred on a daily basis throughout the month of August.
The Hundred 2023 Season Overview
There have been no surprises at the beginning of The Hundred 2023 season. The three teams that have reached the top of the scoreboard are the ones that have shown the most promise from the start.
All eyes may be on the Trent Rockets and the Manchester Originals, which played the final match of The Hundred 2022, but the leading position on the table currently belongs to neither. It’s occupied by the Yorkshire representative, the Northern Superchargers.
The three teams are yet to meet one another on the pitch, so the only thing we can say for certain is that they’ve proved to be worthy throne contenders quite early on.
On the other hand, the Southern Brave and the Birmingham Phoenix, which played the final match in the tournament’s inaugural year, haven't made it far this season. They are closer to the bottom of the table than they are to the top, with only the London Spirit below them.
Meanwhile, the Welsh Fire and the Oval Invincibles have kept a steady pace and remained in the middle of the leaderboard. From these positions, both teams can move either up or down, and at this time, the odds show a favourable prognosis. That said, the top teams better keep up the good work, as there are new kids on the block, and ambitious ones, too.
The Hundred Teams
Trent Rockets
England Test captain Joe Root will be joined by superstar opening batsman Alex Hales, who was recently top-scorer at the 2020-21 Big Bash in Australia.
But that’s not where their batting talent ends. Dawid Malan, currently the Number 1 T20I batsman in the world is there too, as is prolific Big Bash run-scorer D’Arcy Short.
The big-name with the ball is Afghan magical spinner, Rashid Khan, while Aussie Nathan Coulter-Nile, England international Harry Gurney and all-rounder Lewis Gregory will have to give Khan good support.
Southern Brave
In Jofra Archer they have one of the most dangerous strike bowlers in the world but there’s more danger elsewhere for opponents.
Andre Russell is one of the biggest hitters in the game and will be hard to stop on any ground.
In Liam Dawson and Chris Jordan they have two extremely capable English bowlers and in Pakistan star Shadab Khan an excellent spin option.
David Warner is there too to add some firepower at the top of the order but he looks past his best. However, James Vince has been in wonderful form for the past year or so.
Northern Superchargers
They look like one of the best-balanced teams. The biggest name of all is Ben Stokes, one of the world’s top all-rounders, but they have all other bases covered.
There’s Aaron Finch and Chris Lynn for top-order power, David Willey to give it a bash down the order and Ben Foakes to act as the finisher.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman is one of the best spinners in the business and his ‘spin twin’ will be England veteran Adil Rashid. South African born all-rounder David Wiese will provide a decent option with both bat and ball, to complement Stokes.
Welsh Fire
Expect fireworks at the top of the order with Jonny Bairstow and Tom Banton opening while there’s plenty of experience after them thanks to Steve Smith and Colin Ingram.
There’s raw pace in Mitchell Starc, clever spin bowling thanks to Steve Harmer and mystery spin with Qais Ahmed in there.
Veteran Ryan ten Doeschate will be an important cog too as the designated finisher, but maybe they miss strong pace bowling options beyond Starc.
Oval Invincibles
Curran brothers Sam and Tom will be playing alongside each other and a third England international joins them in the form of explosive opener Jason Roy.
Spinners Sunil Narine and Sandeep Lamichhane will be charged with keeping the runs down and taking wickets with Windies all-rounder Fabien Allen providing a third spin option.
But the most important man of all might be middle-order rock Sam Billings, who has seen it all before and will be vital in getting them over the line in tight run chases.
Manchester Originals
A really solid-looking side. There’s star quality with the bat (Jos Buttler) and ball (Imran Tahir) but what impresses is how well-covered they are across all bases.
Dane Vilas has been incredibly consistent in English county cricket for the past few years while Phil Salt and Tom Abell are others who haven’t proved their worth for England but certainly have at this level.
Then there’s Dan Christian, the man who has famously won nine domestic T20 titles and is one of the world’s best finishers, while giving a handy option with the ball, as well.
London Spirit
Mohammad Amir is (currently) retired from international cricket and that's Pakistan's loss because he’s a world-class fast bowler. Another Mohammad (Nabi) is one of T20 cricket’s most experienced players and his calm head will be a big plus.
A middle-order of Glenn Maxwell, Eoin Morgan and Joe Denley looks strong but they may have a problem in the opener’s slots, where they lack big-hitters.
Their key man alongside Amir could be Mark Wood, who’s considerably quicker than most bowlers that batsmen will be facing here.
Birmingham Phoenix
Getting Kane Williamson on board is always an excellent move. The New Zealand captain is a master tactician and brilliant top-order batsman who knows the game like few others.
His main resources with the ball are Pakistan star bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, England man Chris Woakes and Aussie spinner Adam Zampa.
Woakes, Moeen Ali and Ravi Bopara are all classy all-rounders so that gives Williamson plenty of options to play around with.
Interesting Rivalries
Oval Invincibles v London Spirit
This pits the two London-based sides against each other. The Invincibles will play their home matches at The Oval, while the Spirit will be based at Lord’s, the world’s most iconic cricket ground.
The Spirit will be coached by the legendary Shane Warne and captained by England skipper Eoin Morgan, so lots of experience right there.
The Invincibles will be coached by Australian Tom Moody and captained by Kent stalwart Sam Billings. Both look well equipped for good campaigns but they'll also be desperate to beat each other.
Manchester Originals v Northern Superchargers
Jos Buttler will be in charge of the Originals, based at Old Trafford. He’ll be able to count on the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Steve Finn and Shadab Khan as they attempt to have a good first season.
And they'll be keen to get the better of the other Northern-based team, the Superchargers.
With Ben Stokes as their main man, also featuring Aussie big-hitter Chris Lynn and Adil Rashid, the Headingley based team will at least want to finish better than Buttler’s boys.
